It's a bit different to Skype as you don't need to be at a computer to make a call, you just use normal phones. Also it's not a program so you don't get the instant messaging side of it.
I currently use both. Skype for the IM stuff and occasional conference call, then ConnectMeAnywhere to make a calls to mobiles/landlines as it's easier and cheaper and from any phone instead of having to be on the net or attached to a computer.
Take care

Did you ever get your VoIP sorted? Sorry about the timing of my reply, I'm kinda new to the blog thing
I use connectmeanywhere (.com). They're the cheapest I've seen so far and you can call from any mobile or landline at any time. You can import your contacts from Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo etc or just add them then call a local rate number and select the contact to call, it's really simple. If you call an email address the service records what you say and sends it as an attachment in an email for free. And you can also save a webpage/blog so when you call, just select it and it gets read to you!
Registering is pretty straight forward, but let me know if you get stuck and I'll try help best I can.
